'It's just my music.  It's the only thing I have real dignity in my life. That's the one area in my life where I can hold my head up and say, "No one can touch me." 'Cos no one can touch me!' - Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was with without question one of the outstanding vocalist of her generation.  In an era of manufactured stars and pop puppets, she was the real deal.  With her instantly recognisable image, her powerful lyrics and that voice, she had the ability to take you on a journey. Her rawness and emotional honesty cut through pop's hyperbole injecting soul, meaning and depth back into the modern music scene.  Often compared to the legendary Nina Simone, Winehouse had been credited as an influence in the rise in popularity of female musicians and for revitalising British music.  Her second album ‘Back to Black’ with its six Grammy nominations, changed the music scene for ever.  Winning over the masses with its lyrical musings on broken hearts and emotional turmoil, ‘Back to Black’ will go down as one of the classic British albums.

And this is how she should be remembered.
Everything else is irrelevant.
